Take Two (Remix)

With the day winding down, the Guildmaster of the prestigious Fairy Tail Guild decided to hit the streets just as the lamps were beginning to turn on. The stars twinkled despite the sun being still just above the horizon. It was that time of day when the moon met the sun in the sky and caused it to be vibrant colors, and if Kazuki was honest, it was his favorite time of the day. The dark didn't bother him, thanks to having keen senses that allowed him to see well enough in the dark, as well as the enhanced hearing and smell. Combine that with being a powerful wizard, and he feared nothing that might lurk in the dark.

The crisp night air didn't bother the fire slayer, as he was dressed like he always was: a long sleeve button up shirt, and an orange vest. Around his neck he wore a tag, similiar to one someone would place on an animal. The pendent latched upon the collar was gold on color and completely devoid of any writing whatsoever. The purpose it served appeared to be ornamental at best.

Reaching his destination, the park, he ran a gloved hand through his styled blonde hair, and allowed his blue-green eyes to dance around the area. Just a few minutes ago it would have been bustling with activity from children, but now that the street lamps were turning on they were heading home. The park itself was well lit, to be sure, and was darted with food vendor stands along it's winding walk ways. These were his target, this evening. A ramen stand here, a beef stick stand there, it was a buffet of whatever foods you could want. These stands usually stayed open, due to many couples (or in his case hungry bachelors) that walked the park in the evening before heading home.

Or to the bar.

Walking along, with hands in his pockets, he looked to and fro as he whistled. Particularly well known, he nodded and smiled greetings to those that greeted the young guild master, but continued on his merry way.

Dusk was beginning to befall the beautiful city of Magnolia as the stars were slowly, but surely beginning to emerge from the darkening, sapphire sky. The bright orbs of light twinkled continuously as if trying to gain attention by showing themselves glamorously to the inhabitants of the city. A semi cold breeze blew softly through the now less crowded park, picking up the crisp, fallen leaves and twirling them into a naturey like dance. The atmosphere began take a spin as those of whom had been playing in the park were beginning to disappear to their comforts of their beloved shelters. Children and families were going home. Home... Remix stirred within the shadows, shivering slightly as the Moon shone brightly upon the deepening sky. What was home? It was something she had long since forgotten. Remix's gaze seemed to pierce the skies almost if she could see something that was not there. Her gaze was cold and her lips turned into a slight frown. Yet, she said nothing. Even her mind was blank as she continued to stare. Only then did her eyes catch a slight movement streak across the skies. She was put on an alert only to find out what it was moments later.

Remix sighed. "Star light, star bright..." The young 'Neko' murmured softly to herself. She had just seen a shooting star streak across the skies. "First star I see tonight..." Remix closed her eyes as she enhaled the fresh, night air of the Southern Gardens. What was she doing there again? Her eyes opened. That was right... She had ripped out as usual from within the time continuum of the World of Fiore X, only to find herself once again in the clutches of time itself. If only she could stay rooted in one place forever. Yet, she hadn't found the dagger despite the universes and worlds transversed. So then, what could she do? She looked up at the sky once more. It was worth a shot. "I wish I may, I wish I might, have the wish I wish tonight..." Her honey colored eyes looked up at the starry sky, shimmering with hope. Would she dare? "I wish for time to call my own..." Her tail swished and her chance was missed.

With a crest fallen heart, the soldier continued in her way through the park. Her heart was heavy and her hopes lost. Would she forever be forced into a life of the lost? To live a life of a  forgotten? If so, she wanted out. For time to call my own... The first words out of her mouth. Why had she not wished for more drastic measures? After all, she was familiar with the ways of gods. She could have made such a thing work, but why..? So many questions spun in her mind. Remix sighed. She knew why. The young soldier had ventured off into the journey as Guardian in seek of the dagger to end her life of servitude. To gain it by such easy means would have destroyed everything she had worked so hard to get and gain. Remix kicked a bit of dirt into the air as she got up from her perch up in the trees. Hopping down from the branches, she dusted herself off and began to make her journey through the paved roads towards a destination unknown. Would she obtain her answers within the world? Or would she be snatched away once her work was done? All speculation, but important nonetheless. The soldier sighed again. No matter for this time, this time was take two.

Kazuki continued to meander about, his hands finding his pockets. It was a warm night, or rather, he was warm thanks to his magic making his average body temperature much higher than the average human. He never got cold, even as the crisp night breeze blew his blonde locks to and fro. Still, he liked this time of year. He loved Fall, but Winter wasn't so bad. Women would dress up in long coats and scarfs and made them all appear much more elegant.

The sound of something hitting the ground in front of him caused his blue-green eyes to go to the source, surveying it with mild interest. A pretty woman out during the evening by herself? That itself was worth note, but could easily be explained as she was meeting someone and Kazuki found that was more often the case than not.

Of course that's what they told him. He'd believe maybe half of them, and that's being generous.

But what truly caught his attention was the tail swishing to and fro as the woman walked, and the Dragon Slayer followed it back and forth with his eyes like a cat following a string one would drag across the ground. He sped up his walk, reaching his right hand from his pocket as he got close, and reached to secure the tail in a grip. It wasn't hard, but....surely the woman didn't have a tail. That was just absurd.

Lost in thought, the young neko wandered through the almost empty park as her eyes closed briefly to enjoy the night spell that had befallen Magnolia. She enjoyed this time of day or, much rather, night for the nightly breeze was fresh much like the intoxicating whiffs of smell were mouthwatering. As of at the same time, the crickets slowly began to create their music  and the racoons darted about while a rustling of leaves could be heard somewhere in the distance. Perhaps an unknown animal?

Remix continued her pace as her eyebrows furrowed with concern. Her thoughts had completely engulfed her mind. The young neko had been traveling through worlds to find the mysterious dagger of the old, but would she find it? Would this world of U be any different than those she had come from in the past? She could not say, but she knew the Dreamscape had answer. The soldier shivered. If it did, what were they?

It did not take long for Remix's thoughts to come to a complete halt as something grabbed ahold of her tail. Such a event was unexpected that Remix could not stop herself from giving a small jump. Her cheeks burned with embarrassment as she immediately swirled around to see who had dared to touch her tail. In front of her, was a man of strangely familiar appearance. She could not help but feel this scenario to bring about an eerie sense of deja vu. Almost as if this had happened once upon a time.

Remix waved her thoughts away as she looked at the man cautiously as well as with hints of curiosity. Why on Pandora would he pull a tail? A stranger's no less? "Hello..." She said slowly as her honeyed eyes moved to and fro to take in the entire appearance of the man. Her ears flickered against her head piece. "May I help you..?" She stood there waiting for his response as her tail swished away from his hold, unsure of what to do. She shifted from foot to foot. After all, what would one do in this type of scenario?

The tail, it would seem, was attached. As the owner turned, Kazuki stood with a blank face, hand still poised where it had been when he grabbed her tail. He looked to the owner, fully now, though didn't register that he should say or do really anything. It was an awkward situation, to be sure. He expected it to be something like those girls who dressed up wore. He had seen a few, here and there, but never in the park. He supposed, in hindsight, that should have been a dead give away.

And then she spoke, seeming to break him from his trance.

"Oh. Heh. Heya!" He reached his hand up and ran them through his blonde locks, a nervous laugh escaping his lips. "Er. It's real. Sorry, didn't think it was. I mean, not that it doesn't look real--cause it does. I just mean that my father always told me girls had tails, but you're the first I've ever seen and it just through me off!" After the rush of words, Kazuki regained his composure and shifted his weight, folding his arms.

"So....what brings a beautiful young lady with an elegant tail to my neck of the woods?" At the word woods he gestured to the trees around them, though sparse as they were. "I think I'd remember seeing a beautiful woman like yourself around town."

Remix stood still, expectantly watching the tail grabbing man before her to see what his intentions were. For, what kind of person would pull at someone's tail? A stranger's tail no less? Her tail swished away from his hold. Unsure of what to do, she began to shift from foot to foot as she awaited some sort of response to her question. After all, what would one do in this type of scenario? Still, Remix continued to gaze at the man's blank expression as he remained dumbfounded. Her eyebrow raised in both question and sliver of amusement. It now appeared that the one who had truly been taken by surprise had been him. Yet, not long did she have to wait for him to speak for it appeared that her voice awoke him from trance. "Oh. Heh. Heya!" The blonde man said as he regained his composure. He ran his fingers through his hair as he gave a nervous chuckle. "Er. It's real. Remix raised an eyebrow once more as she gave a slight nod. He pulled her tail for that very reason? To see if it was real? Would it have not been better to ask? Still, it was an awkward situation and so she decided against voicing her thought about it. At least for the moment. 

Before she could say it was alright, she was interrupted by his second wave of words. Sorry, didn't think it was." He continued in apology. "I mean, not that it doesn't look real--cause it does. I just mean that my father always told me girls had tails, but you're the first I've ever seen and it just through me off!" With the conclusion of his words and rambling, it appeared that he had regained his composure completely for his next words were of a completely different manner once he had shifted his weight and folding his arms. He spoke again. "So....what brings a beautiful young lady with an elegant tail to my neck of the woods?" He gestured towards the small, wooded area of the park which, in turn, emphasized his words. A smile crept upon her lips in mild amusement as it reminded her of a scene from Robin Hood although the circumstances were different. "I think I'd remember seeing a beautiful woman like yourself around town." He concluded with a smile. Remix took off her head piece. He had seen her tail so why hide her ears now? "Remix," She said with a playful smile. "The name's Remix." She rested her head piece against the crook of her arm. "And who might you be, stranger?" She then asked, awaiting his response.

When her head piece was removed Kazuki's crimson eyes immediately went to her ears. "Okay. Now that's pretty cool. Do you have heightened hearing...?" He blinked. "Sorry, that was rude. They're...cute, though."

With her question of who he was, he didn't bother fighting the smirk as it grew, revealing his sharp canines and taking on an even cockier expression. "Name's Kazuki Kobayashi, Guild Master of Fairy Tail. Hold the applause, please." The last bit was more of a joke, naturally, though he closed his eyes and held up a hand as if in silent protest anyway. Whether or not this was a joke for sure, Kazuki was certainly well known. Most S Class Wizards were famous, their deeds chronicled in Sorcerer Weekly. And Guild Masters even more so, as they were often the public voice for their guild, and had direct dealings with the Magic Council. Vain he may have been acting, but he decided to follow up.

"I'd venture to say, Ms. Remix--it is Ms. Remix, right? Don't break my heart." Implying that it could be a Mrs, of course. He continued on. "That a pretty woman like you shouldn't be walking alone through the park, even if it is just getting dark." He offered her the crook of his arm. "Escort to your destination?" He gave her another grin, the mischievous glint in his eyes not present. He was being sincere, at least he hoped he appeared as such.
