Magic Race! [Job]

Raiken was looking up in the air; the sky was clear and blue, and the sun shone down on their heads. It was a sunny and happy day in Magnolia, the perfect atmosphere for a new job. Raiken’s lack on jobs had been growing since his last one, where he was guarding Marco from Marivel Industries. But that was the past, and Raiken had gotten stronger and was ready to take it further; and so was Rengoku, his divine companion. As Raiken read the job description, his eyes was filled with curiosity. “Wait, a magic race? What’s that all about?” he asked himself and Rengoku, who could read the description as well, despite being inside Raiken’s hand. “Haven’t you read it, already? It invites you to some kind of charity race… with magic,” he replied to Raiken, who thought about it for a moment. He’d never heard about a magic race before, but it sounded like something interesting and exciting, so he decided to accept the job. He clenched the job paper in his fist and walked out of the building, heading directly for the meeting place. He hoped that his magic would be a great advantage in this race, as he could boost his own power, and hopefully, his own speed as well…

Raiken was getting stuck in the street, as massive groups of people were huddling around him. What’s going on here?, he thought for himself. It was barely possible to move in the beginning, and Raiken needed to push his way through. “Excuse me, excuse me...” he apologized with an awkward feeling, walking through the crowds and gently pushing them. As he got further, he realized that this was the meeting place for the magic race. “Wait, this is the place! That explains the crowds...” he commented.

He spent a while looking around; indeed, there were many people who participated. It sort of gave Raiken a nervous, but also excited feeling. I’m going to race against all of them…, he reminded himself a couple times, standing in a free place. His thoughts were interrupted by a gentle tap on the shoulder; it was probably one of the participators. "Hm?" When he looked around, it appeared to be a very pretty girl with a shiny and calm face. She asked him about what was going on here, seemingly interested in the event. “Oh… eh, there’s going to be a magic race here,” he answered her with a shy tone, while showing the event paper that he held in his hand. He had his reasons to be shy; first, it might had been the first girl that he’d encountered, since he travelled to Magnolia, and second, he was always shy when meeting strangers. Especially girls. That was just his thing, and he didn’t mean anything bad about those that he met. Although, he admitted for himself that she sounded pretty kind…

Raiken got very surprised when spotting her interest in the magic race; her eyes were burning with excitement. However, as she looked down at the paper again, her attitude changed drastically. “Huh..? What’s wrong?” Raiken calmly asked her and looked at the paper again. She told that you needed a team of two or three, in order to participate. Maybe she were being too nervous; she could’ve asked Raiken. He didn’t really see this fact in the paper too.

“Eeeehm…” Raiken scratched the back of his head, as he tried to ask if she could team up with him. But something was in the way… his tongue was stuck in the throat for several moments and his face was getting slightly red. Jeez, why am I getting so…, he thought, looking around for a quick moment. As a long moment passed, Rengoku decided to interfere, as Raiken's upper palm would blink up red. “For Heaven’s sake, ask her!” Rengoku suddenly spoke up, interrupting Raiken’s thinking. He got a little shock by the unexpected comment fron Rengoku, but he was right. If he didn’t say anything, she might leave the event with a sad feeling, and he didn’t want to be the guy that could’ve helped her but didn’t. So after a second, he addressed her with a smile: “You… can join up with me. That’ll be cool.” He felt a great relief to finally feel comfortable, and not trapped in a cage of shyness, with her. However, the other participators were getting ready to start, so if she wanted to accept, she might had to hurry…

Raiken was letting out a sigh of happiness when she accepted his request. They could both participate now; but they needed to hurry! After Tyriel, which was the name of this girl, accepted his request, she grabbed his hand and quickly pulled him over to the start line. “Eh? It’s starting, already?!” he spoke up midway. They were an unusual team, compared to the others; most of the members were males, and not just simple dudes that you meet everyday. Most of them were high-ranked mages, or that’s what Raiken thought. However, it didn’t pull down his excitement for this race.

Finally, when they made it to the line, she asked for his name. “Oh, my name’s Raiken. Sorry for not telling you before,” he replied to her, scratching his hair slowly. A green light would appear on his hand, which indicated that Rengoku was about to talk. But before that happened, the race was about to start. The judge was counting down…

3, 2… 1… GO! Right at that moment, Raiken charged out from the start line, hoping that Tyriel was following him. They were going to make it together at the end line, in order to win. They only reached a few meters and there were already shots in the air; magic of all kinds was launched around them. “Let’s do this, Tyriel! Try and avoid the blasts!” Raiken spoke up, approaching an Ice mage that stood in front of him. He was aiming at Raiken who wasn’t going to let him do anything; he quickly pulled out his TakeOver magic, transforming his hand into the scaled, red and lizard-like version and swiftly sent a large punch towards the ice mage’s face.

Spell Used:

It seemed that things were getting fired up; Raiken took a quick glance behind him, to see if Tyriel was doing good. In a moment, a giant tree erupted from the ground behind him, covering his view of her. Though, it was obvious that it was her spell. “Nice one!” he commented, moving forward and concentrating at the ice mage, who wasn’t done yet. He was about to do another spell on Raiken; his hands formed a circle and out of that, he launched a giant ice spear at Raiken! It was 3 times the size of a typical spear, though, and surprised everyone who spotted it. "Hm..." Raiken spoke for himself, but got interrupted by Rengoku. "You know what to do..!" he said to Raiken, who understood and accepted his choice...

He quickly moved his hand up and slammed it into the spear, breaking it into several ice shards. The ice mage was rather impressed, but didn’t manage to dodge Raiken’s next move; another quick punch in the stomach. The ice mage spit out air from his mouth, as a result of the impact to the stomach. He fell down, unconscious, and let Raiken move on. "That was one..!" he said to himself and looked at Tyriel, hoping that she was doing fine, "Let's keep going, we're getting closer!"

He couldn't take a breath, though. Just as he moved 5 meters forward, something came out of the blue air; a mage dashed into Raiken with an abnormal speed. Raiken got pushed forward and was about to fall down, but quickly regained the balance and looked out for this guy. He was standing right in front of Raiken; his feet were moving faster than the speed of sound, moving him forward. He was simply looking back at Raiken; he didn't seem to bother about where he was running. "Heh!" Raiken let out a little laugh of excitement and charged at this guy, who swiftly dodged his upcoming attack. The speed mage then attempted to counterattack, but Raiken was fast enough to counter back at him, finally landing a blow. The speed mage was a bit astonished, but rapidly disappeared, preparing for the next move...

Raiken was trying to catch sight on that speed mage, who probably tried to slow him down with these slowpoke attacks. When he dodged his last attack, the speed mage moved backwards, only to get hit by a big surprise; a giant, purple magic circle appeared below them and bushes began to appear, spreading a yellowish pollen that got attached to their bodies. These pollens would expand immensely, greatly slowing down the targets. “That’s how you… ACHU!!!” Raiken got interrupted by a sniff, before hearing Tyriel, “Alright, then! I'll hurry!” He spotted the speed mage, who weren’t that speedy now. With a mighty power, Raiken lifted his left knuckle and smashed it into the speed mage’s face, leaving him fainted on the ground.

Now was the time! If they could run fast enough, the half-stunned people would guarantee Raiken and Tyriel a win. She told him to run to the finish line and wait for her, and he had plenty of confidence in her, so he charged forward with all his power. The finish line was dangling in the air, before getting chopped in two by Raiken’s body. He crossed the finish line first and braked with his feet. He then quickly looked back to wait for Tyriel. “I made it, Tyriel! Now, go!”
